Last week, during Big Two #56, DMG’s Jason Laboy had an opportunity to briefly sit down with EMP | DUX Sanford Kelly (see video below) to discuss his recent performance, why he won’t be actively competing as much during the 2013 season, thoughts on the competitive landscape between American and Japanese players, and his insights on the Fighting Game Community that includes the hatred and ridicule he’s endured in recent history.
Sanford also briefly talks about Video X Games, which has been highly praised by the invited guests, including the Cross Counter crew who covered VXG 2012. It’s now considered a true Paradise for gamers that promotes a genuine spirit of good, wholesome fun, hospitality, and an memorable experience that no avid gamer should pass up.
On a related note, Jason also was able to catch up with AGE | Chris G to get his highlights on the event. His interview can be found directly below.
Video X Games Vice President Rolando Brison has recently come out to support multiple events hosted throughout North America including NEC XIII, a Northeast fighting game tournament event, hosted in Philadelphia, PA which served as a qualifier for VXG. So far, EG | Justin Wong and BT | IFC Yipes recently won qualifies at Youmacon 2012, respectively in AE 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, followed by EMP | OBS REO, who won the qualifier in Mortal Kombat 9 at NEC XIII.
The next upcoming qualifer in which the winners for Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition v. 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be rewarded with a trip to St. Maarten will take place at APEX 2013. Additional tournament events directly involved with VXG will be announced in the near future.
