This 3 day event showcases the  players that are in attendance amazing skills across multiple games.  Our team “VXG Elite” had one goal in mind while at this tournament, and that goal was to win it all! The players representing VXG Elite included; Dieminion, Knuckle Du and Reo. These 3 players are amongst the best in the Fighting Game Community (FGC) and each player competes in multiple games.

Civil War V has quickly established itself as a greatly run tournament which in turn has seen a growth in attendance each since it’s inaugural tournament 5 years ago. This year, as expected had its largest turn out to date. Well over 1,000 players were in attendance to compete for cash prizes as well as extremely unique 1st place trophies (for each game) in a replica Civil War swords

Our VXG Elite team had their eyes locked on the swords and played with the goal of winning this unique award. Headed by Triforce, CEO of Empire Arcadia, kept the players focused and motivated at the task at hand. When VXG Elite players experienced setbacks, Triforce was quick to raise the players confidence and help them refocus on their match.

VXG Elite players excelled as expected. VXG Reo went on to claim 1st place in Mortal Kombat 9 and the first ever Injustice tournament. He did so in spectacular fashion by defeating EMP Tom Brady. VXG Reo energized the crowd with his amazing play and put on an amazing performance during the grand finals. All in attendance were amazed at his level of play during such a high pressure moment.

VXG Elite’s Dieminion and Knuckle Du were unable to take 1st place in their respective games as they had to face off against one another in Super Street Fighter IV and SFxT. Knuckle Du eliminated Dieminion from competition in SFxT but was stopped short of claiming 1st place. Knuckle Du went in to claim 2nd place as Dieminion claimed 3rd.

Dieminion painfully had to return the favor in eliminating Knuckle Du from competition in Super Street Fighter IV. Knuckle Du finished 7th p,ace over all. Dieminion as well fell just short of claiming first place in a epic battle during Grand Finals. Dieminion the class act that he is congratulated his counterpart with a big hug after his lost and walked off the stage with his head held high.

VXG is very proud of our players as they placed 1st place in 2 games and 2nd/3rd in 2 other games. Each VXG Elite member thanked the Board of Tourism for sponsoring each of them and sending them to this amazing event, while they fell short of their goal they were proud to represent VXG and the island of St. Maarten.

The Vxg Casino Royale event, dubbed as the most unique fighting game exhibitions of all time with legal gambling allowed on 8 prizes fights, has announced the main event for the evening: a $50,000 prize fight between Yipes, Sanford Kelly and Justin Wong in a 3 way “Battle of the Gods” match in a game that created a name for all 3 of these players: Marvel vs Capcom 2. VxG Casino royale will take place on July 26th at the Casino Royale of the sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino. The event will be streamed live, and bets will be accepted from all around the world via www.playmaho.com.

You have seen the video and you have heard the song “Let’s go to da beach”. We have seen your tweets, comments on streams and message boards in regards to our trailer. We are blown away by your overwhelming support for VXG and for that we have raised the bar once again for you!

We are proud to announce that the overall cash prize payout for the games to compete in at VXG has been raised to over $86,000! We are also proud to announce another prize for the players who place top 8/16 in their respective games. These players will receive a gift bag from the St. Maarten tourism board valued at between $100-$150. We are also in the works of finalizing a deal with our sponsors to award additional prizes for those players who place high in their respective games, details still to come.

Now on to the games! We have heard your calls for support for these titles and we are proud to announce that VXG will be adding 3 new games to our roster of titles in which to compete in for cash prizes at VXG. King of Fighter 13 – We respect the fact that it turned out to be the most voted game in the poll. It was probably a mistake not to have the game at VxG 2012, but mistake has been corrected and it will be at VxG 2013!

Smash Brawl – It’s back, the smash game of 2012 will be back for VxG 2013! Melee still has some chance of making it in, Playstation all stars still has time to grow.

So what’s next? WE WILL RESERVE TO MORE SPOTS TO BE ANNOUNCED NEXT YEAR. This is where the communities of other games not listed here, such as SFxT, Dead or Alive 5, Persona IV Arena, Smash Melee and Playstation All Stars all have to show which game they want to see at VxG. Developers also have a small part to play. I must commend Team Ninja in this regard for being the first to show interest in having their game at VxG, and that gives some major point to seeing DOA at VxG 2013. But community is still the number 1 factor.

Also note that Injstice is going to be put in a wild card of it’s own. We will only announce the game pending an official release date. Currently no official release date has been given so JUST in case the game comes out too late, we won’t decide on its inclusion until the game is released.

Prizes will be announced later in 2013, but we wont let Marvel and SFIV outshine the other games too much in terms of prizes, we will do our best to keep it close in that range.

Video X Games Vice President Rolando Brison has recently come out to support multiple events hosted throughout North America including NEC XIII, a Northeast fighting game tournament event, hosted in Philadelphia, PA which served as a qualifier for VXG. So far, EG | Justin Wong and BT | IFC Yipes recently won qualifies at Youmacon 2012, respectively in AE 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, followed by EMP | OBS REO, who won the qualifier in Mortal Kombat 9 at NEC XIII.

The next upcoming qualifer in which the winners for Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition v. 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be rewarded with a trip to St. Maarten will take place at APEX 2013. Additional tournament events directly involved with VXG will be announced in the near future. Rolando announced last month, of MK9 finally becoming a qualifier for VXG and the first qualifier being NEC, second Winter Brawl, and the third would be announced at a later date.
